Welcome to Youngstown State Study Abroad Welcome to the Study Abroad Website for YSU Students
![]()
Youngstown State University encourages students to study abroad during their college years. Research has shown that 97% of study abroad students found employment within 12 months of graduation, when only 49% of college graduates found employment in that same period. 90% of study abroad students were accepted into their 1st or 2nd choice of graduate school. Studying abroad creates global citizens who are more cultured for their life changing experience. Students make new lifelong friends, learn new languages, and have personal development that others cannot have. Study Abroad can take many different forms. Some programs involve a week or two in another country with a faculty leader as part of a semester-long YSU course while others are immersion programs consisting primarily of intensive language and culture training spending a semester or year in the program. Many of these programs are taught in English, or alternatively, if you already have the necessary proficiency, another language. There are even programs in which students and professors travel together to a number of countries around the world, teaching and learning along the way. Whatever international experience you choose, the International Programs Office is here to assist you.
